Our beloved Season got married! We got to know this young lady when Alex was three years old and she’s been part of the family since. She hooked up with a super nice guy, he’s funny & kind, and happy to loft either of our boys gleefully into the air. Ya gotta like that!
We arrived early enough to explore the Gray Gables in Milwaukie, which is a lovely old house with tons of gardens and ponds and fountains. The boys had the honor of being in the wedding. Instead of full-blown tuxedos they wore vests and ties over long-sleeved cotton dress shirts. They looked so fabulous and charmed everyone… Alex stood up with the groomsmen & even got to escort a bridesmaid down the aisle! He said it wasn’t embarrassing, just “weird”. Casey was the ring-bearer, paired up with a sweet little girl that we met last year at the Zoo Lights festival (by the end of that visit they were holding hands.) Casey had several one-on-one conversations with the father of the bride.
This was a huge thing for these boys, they were completely independent because Derek & I were simply part of the audience! We weren’t able to make the rehearsal due to first-week-of-school conflicts but they just stepped in and did sooooo good, and we were sooooo proud!
The reception was lovely and we enjoyed meeting the folks at our table. Soon the boys got to relax a bit & remove their vests & ties, still looking sharp in their button-down white shirts & black slacks. Season (bless her!) dropped off a goody bag at our table with toys & colored pencils & very useful hand-held fans. Why were the fans so useful? Because soon the music started and CASEY WAS THERE TO BOOGIE! I’m not kidding, he was BREAKDANCING out there! And he was good! He did spend some of his time out there as instructor because there was a lot of interest in what he was doing. [I think the last person to lay such moves had a run-in with fire ants.] Anyway, soon we were all out there. I enjoyed the slow dances with hubby, & also dancing with Alex, gosh we don’t do that near enough!
After dancing & visiting until around 11pm we finally decided it was time to scoop up our boys & make that 1.5 hour drive home. They were awake longer than we expected, but still Derek and I were the only ones awake for most of the trip. Mostly me.
Wow – what a great celebration!

and when will we be seeing pictures of those handsomely dressed boys?
We have them downloaded and we should be able to post them tonight.

Mama's trying to be fancy & show a slideshow, but sometimes the photos "skip" or "stutter" ... Cammie does it work for you??
they were fabulous... what a fun time....
It's been awhile since I've checked out your family blog. How wonderful it is. I love the pictures from the wedding. I think Alex looks so much like your brother! And Casey, well his eyes just melt your heart. Your boys are growning up way way too fast! I can't believe Teacher Season got married - that's just wonderful. Hope the boys look just as happy on the last day of school as they do in these photos of the first day :-)
